Summary Objectives: The Coordinator of Young Adult and Campus Ministry supervises and participates in the diocesan efforts for ministry to and with young adults, college students, youth and the various staff and volunteers who assist with these ministries from the parishes and schools in the Diocese of Jackson.
Position Type: Exempt, Full Time
Work Environment: Regular work/office hours 35 hours a week. Travel required; mileage reimbursed. Nights and weekend work.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree in Theology/Pastoral Ministry or another religious studies field preferred.
Experience in parish pastoral ministry. Diocesan experience a plus.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:
The coordinator will plan and develop regional (multi-parish) and diocesan young adult and campus ministry programs which may take the form of spiritual retreats, diocesan mission trips or conventions (diocesan, regional or national) which provides outreach to and faith formation for young adults and college students in the diocese.
Multi-parish collaboration is essential in our mission diocese and a program should be developed for campus ministers as well as the young adults.
The coordinator will provide regular leadership training programs, ministry workshops, and retreats for campus ministers and young adult leaders as well as regular contact through email, phone calls and visits.
It is essential that the coordinator work with other Offices within the Chancery. The coordinator has a particularly important collaborative responsibility in working with the Coordinator of the Office of Intercultural Ministries, Coordinator of the Office Youth Ministry, and the Coordinator of the Office of Religious Education and Faith Formation.
As part of the comprehensive young adult and campus ministry program, our young adults should be encouraged and exposed to leadership in their parish community. This gives them a vested interest in their parish and will be an additional encouragement to remain involved in the Catholic community. A component of this may be the creation of a peer leadership ministry of college students and young adults across the diocese.
The coordinator will be involved in preparing and adhering to the diocesan young adults and campus ministry budget. The coordinator should be willing to search and apply for grants and other alternative funding to supplement the budget.
The coordinator should attend and network with other professionals associated with young adult and youth ministry. This may be at local, regional or national gatherings. The coordinator should be willing to stay current and aware of national trends and resources not only as apply to the young adult and campus ministers, but also as to what the young adults are seeing and hearing.
