    ITA Project Director

    Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is seeking to hire an Initial Teaching Alphabet (ITA) Director for the Winona campus. This is a half time position working 20 hours a week. The position works in Grant Development. The ITA Project Director, also referred to as ITA Grant Director in the Grantee agreement document, is responsible for ensuring that the submitted grant and budget request reflect what the grantee organization intends to accomplish during the grant cycle, including:

    1. Procuring organizational support for the proposed project.
    2. Specifying the goals and scope of the proposed project.
    3. Specifying how ITA-sponsored intervention protocols will be implemented.
    4. Identifying personnel, materials, and technical assistance that will be needed for successful implementation of the proposed project.
    5. Specifying and justifying line-item and overall budget needs for the grant cycle Project Supervision. The ITA Project Director is responsible for all aspects of funded ITA grants, including:
    1. Assessing new and continuing students/clients receiving services through the organization's ITA grant. This includes supervising assessments by appropriately-trained staff.
    2. Preparing and procuring materials needed for anticipated number of students/clients to
    be served.
    3. Arranging for tutoring and office spaces.
    4. Interviewing prospective tutors or paraprofessionals (if specified in the grant budget).
    5. Arranging for technical assistance from the ITA Foundation Program Officer in initial and ongoing training of project personnel working with students/clients. NOTE: These services are provided without charge to grantees.
    6. Supervising all personnel delivering services through periodic observations and coaching
    meetings. Foundation Reports. The ITA Project Director is responsible for the following reports to the
    ITA Foundation:
    1. Midterm report, specifying number of students/clients served, with attached personnel observations and coaching notes related to implementation fidelity. These observations shall include documentation of adherence to Grantee goals as stated in the agreement and associated intervention protocols approved by the Foundation.
    2. Final report, including pre and post-tests for each student/client served and a narrative summary of goals attained. The final budget report is to be included, specifying how line-item grant funds were expended.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Initial Teaching Alphabet (ITA) experience necessary.
    • May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.
