The Diocese of Lansing is accepting applications for a Director of Catholic Charities position. The position serves as the Bishop of Lansing's liaison with the Executive Directors and the boards of each diocesan Catholic Charity agency. The position is part time, approximately three days per week.
The ideal candidate is a disciple of Jesus Christ, growing in relationship to Him and his Holy Church. The ideal candidate will have a heart for serving the mission of the Catholic Church; at least five years of experience in executive level leadership; experience with developing and overseeing budgets; demonstrated ability to encourage and promote collaboration among individuals and groups in support of a common vision; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and to see projects to their completion; experience effectively communicating complex matters including developing proposals and reports and making clear presentations; must have strong listening and interpersonal relationship building skills; must be willing to drive throughout the diocese to attend various board meetings and events. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, with a master's degree preferred.
The primary responsibilities and duties include:
Oversee the executive directors and the advisory boards of the Catholic Charities agencies in the Diocese of Lansing.
Serve as the Bishop's liaison to the agency director and the board of each Catholic Charities agency.
Regularly convene the agency directors of the Catholic Charities agencies to:
Enhance and foster the Catholic identity of the agencies, both internal and external,
Integrate the services and ministries of each agency with the Church's mission in the Diocese of Lansing, and
Be consistent with the Church's moral and social teaching relating to services provided and to administrative and human resources matters.
Support the agency directors in carrying out the mission and ministry of the Catholic Charities agencies, including funding matters.
Support agency directors and boards in the establishment of strategic plan goals and objectives for the agencies.
Review the annual budget of each Catholic Charities agency to ensure sound fiscal management consistent with Diocesan Policy.
Encourage collaboration between Catholic Charities agencies and the parishes in respective service areas for both volunteer support in and financial support for the mission and ministry of these agencies.
As a member of the Bishop's leadership team,
Participate in regular meetings including strategic planning and priority setting across diocesan ministry areas.
Communicate salient information to:
Bishop's leadership team,
Ministry leaders in the Curia,
Catholic Charities agency directors and boards, and
Other entities as appropriate.
Serve as Diocese of Lansing representative on the Social Policy Committee of the Michigan Catholic Conference.
