The Assistant Superintendent of School Finance will ensure and develop the well-being of Catholic Schools, in collaboration with the Archdiocesan Finance Office, through the establishment and implementation of the financial infrastructure and systems necessary to safeguard assets, provide accurate financial statements, and support the schools both now and in preparation for the future. The position will report on the fiscal viability of schools based on key performance areas, oversee accounting/purchasing/collection functions, participate in strategic planning and growth, create professional development for school leaders on financial matters, and work with local parish and school financial staff. The Assistant Superintendent of School Finance reports directly to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools and works directly with the Administrator on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to financial aid and scholarships, donations, budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and securing new funding.
Duties/Responsibilities
•Provide budget realignment and fiscal oversight for principals and parish leaders who are in most need of financial assistance.
•Collaborate with associate superintendents who identify schools seeing negative impacts due to financial issues.
•Collaborate with principals to establish full Title plans.
•Provide resources for principals to ensure quality shared time agreements.
•Provide regular checks of fiscal viability of schools by assessing key performance indicators.
•Create professional development opportunities for principals, school business managers, and priests on school financial matters to help hit targeted strategic goals.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
•Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting with a master's degree preferred.
•Certification in Education Finance preferred.
•Minimum of 5 years of financial leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
•Strong finance and accounting background
•Experience working or volunteering in a Church or School environment
•Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
•Ability to make strategic plans and projections three or more years into the future.
•Ability to establish and focus on critical key priorities in an environment with frequent interruptions.
•Demonstrated ability to set priorities, propose new ways of creating efficiencies, and guide investment in people and systems.
•Proven effectiveness in leading professionals.
•Must be a Catholic in good standing with the Church.
