    Description

    The Associate Superintendent is responsible for the overall strategic direction, leadership and administration of Archdiocesan Catholic schools located within the city of Detroit. Through guidance and approval from the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, the Associate Superintendent has broad authority to lead and govern the day-to-day operations of the city Catholic schools.

    The Associate Superintendent is responsible for creating a culture of collaboration within the Catholic elementary schools serving the families in Detroit. He or she, in collaboration of the pastors, principals, and the Department of Catholic schools, would seek out solutions to increase fiscal viability and ensure academic excellence within a Christ-centered, Faith forming environment. The Associate Superintendent will report directly to the Superintendent but will have great flexibility in the role to be as present as possible to pastors and principals in the five city elementary schools.

    Duties/Responsibilities
    •Provide leadership in the vision, delivery, and continuous improvement for Catholic schools located in the city of Detroit.
    •Provide leadership in the recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of personnel as authorized by Superintendent, AOD, HR, and contractual agreements.
    •Create and maintain strong relationships with our, principals, faculty, pastors, and vendors.
    •Provide leadership through collaboration in the planning, conducting, and delivery of staff development.
    •Provide leadership in the alignment of curriculum, implementation of state testing requirements, and program enhancement to improve the quality of services and outcomes for students.
    •Collaborate with principals and pastors to manage budgets, licensing, and Title funding.

    Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    •Strong background in state Title funds and grant writing, staffing, enrollment, and budget management
    •Demonstrated highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
    •A proven track record in hiring, developing, and retaining staff.
    •Strong commitment to building positive relationships with families and the community.
    •Strong commitment to the mission of the Archdiocese of Detroit and Catholic schools.

    Education and Experience Requirements
    •Master's degree in School Administration, Education or Business.
    •5 years' experience in a leadership role in an educational environment.

    Physical Requirements
    •Prolonged sitting and working at a desk with repetitive motion working on a computer.
    •Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
    •May involve some standing, bending, and walking.

    Travel Required
    •Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit.

    Additional Requirements
    •Must agree, upon acceptance of an offer of employment with the Archdiocese of Detroit, not to engage in, nor to endorse, any actions or beliefs contrary to the teaching and standards of the Roman Catholic faith and morality.
    •Must be a Catholic in good standing and adhere to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
    •Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values.
    •Affinity for mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations and a commitment to serving the Catholic Church in Southeast Michigan.
    •Must be willing to take an Oath of Confidentiality and must maintain strict confidentiality regarding any archdiocesan information gained within the Archdiocese of Detroit.
    •Must have a broad knowledge of the Roman Catholic faith, its institutions, policies, and practices.
    •Knowledge of the Roman Catholic faith, its institutions, policies, and practices a plus.
    •Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
