The Payroll Accountant is responsible for all payroll related tasks and the monthly reconciliation of health benefits billings. Furthermore, this position is responsible for preparing and positing journal entries, and assisting with month end close.
A typical day in the life as a Payroll Accountant:
Collecting, preparing and verifying payroll data
Processing bi-weekly payroll, time allocations, and mapping to General Ledger
Running internal and external HRIS reports; including payroll reconciliation
Reviewing and recording all changes that affecting payroll
Ensuring accuracy of payroll and compliance with government regulations
Assisting all staff with payroll related questions and concerns
Maintaining attendance records including personal time usage, hours worked, paid time off (PTO) and unpaid leaves of absence
Preparing and posting journal entries to Great Plains software
Analyzing and reconciling

Knowledge and Experience with payroll software
Knowledge of General Accounting Practice Principles (GAAP)and on-profit accounting practices
General knowledge of payroll tax
Employment Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or closely related field is required.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience utilizing HRIS, including the HR, payroll and time & attendance modules is required.
Knowledge of HRIS custom reporting features is preferred. .
