St. Mary's Parish, a large, vibrant Catholic Church in Holliston, Massachusetts, is seeking a new Youth Minister and Confirmation Coordinator, to start in September of 2023.
The Youth Ministry portion of this position includes the Evangelization of our Middle School and High School aged youth, running our T.G.I.F. (Teens Gathered In Faith) High School Youth Group, and our very large Middle School Youth Group. Each Youth Group meets once a month, with various social and service trip opportunities on offer as well. The High School Youth Group includes a full week Mission Trip each summer.
The Youth Minister should also form appropriate friendships with the teens in the community. This could be done by supporting the teens at their sports games and school plays, and by being present at town events.
The Religious Education portion of this position includes overseeing the Religious Education and Faith Formation of students in Grades 8, 9 and 10. This involves the formation, organization and supervision of the volunteer teachers, materials, and classes, as well as a strong ability to articulate and teach the Catholic Faith to today's teens. Sacramental and liturgical preparation for Confirmation is also a part of the role. Currently St. Mary's has approximately 60 students each in grades 8, 9, and 10.
The person selected for this position needs to be able to dialogue and connect well with young people - understanding their spiritual needs and real-life experiences. Ideally, the Youth Minister will be able to be part of St. Mary's Worshipping Community. Connecting our youth to the Sunday Eucharist in a way that enriches and empowers them as joyful, faithful followers of Jesus is the number one priority.
Candidates must be practicing, on-fire Catholics in good standing who attends Mass weekly and live a lifestyle in harmony with the moral teachings of the faith. They also must be a Christ-like role model, have a zeal for souls, and a desire to lead others, particularly teens, closer to Christ and His church. Honesty and integrity are essential.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in any field of study, a background in and knowledge of Catholic theology and ministry, as well as organizational, computer, social media and interpersonal skills. They should be a self-starter with ideas and high aspirations for our parish youth. Experience in campus ministry or youth ministry is essential.
This position receives support from our Religious Education Secretary, and works closely with the Pastor, the Grades PreK - 7 Director of Religious Education, and a large number of parish volunteers. You may learn more about our parish through our website: https://stmarysholliston.com/.
