The Office of Background screening is currently looking for a full-time Operations Assistant to join their team. This position supports the Director of Background Screening in assisting with the fingerprint-based National Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) background checks for school and the Archdiocesan Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in all CHRI and CORI related matters.
Download and document all incoming CHRI returns received from the Massachusetts Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS) via Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Services (SAFIS).
Draft Suitability Determination Letters for each result received.
Conduct Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website searches.
Organize and meticulously maintain a secure and up-to-date CHRI filing system.
Prepare outgoing mail, including periodic mailings to parishes, schools, and institutions.
Track and research any outstanding fingerprint results.
Prepare outgoing mail.
Interact in a positive and professional manner with staff and visitors at the Pastoral Center.
Provide back-up administrative and special project support to the Office of Risk Management
Other duties as may be assigned.
Ability to become a Certified SAFIS-R User for CHRI access
Required to maintain and successfully complete FBI Level 4 CJIS Security Training every 2 years.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, strong working knowledge of Excel.
Experience working with databases and data entry.
Sound organizational skills and attention to detail.
Minimum of two years relevant office experience.
Strong service orientation.
Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS) and/or Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background screening process a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic Church.
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
