The mission of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the Archdiocese is seeking a Business Manager for Carroll Media, which includes the archdiocese's Catholic Standard and Spanish-language El Pregonero newspapers, websites, and social media.
The Business Manager manages Carroll Media's business operation, including advertising sales for its media platforms and the circulation of its newspapers.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and balance annual budget for operations and staff of Carroll Media's Catholic Standard and El Pregonero newspapers, websites, and social media.
• Direct advertising staff for Catholic Standard and El Pregonero, with special emphasis on expanding digital media clients and taking a creative approach to build a range of advertisers for the monthly newspapers and assist in sales efforts.
• Direct circulation and distribution of Catholic Standard and El Pregonero newspapers, working with printing company, U.S. Postal Service, and parish representatives.
• Supervise Catholic Standard subscription sales and renewal process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Supervise advertising and circulation data entry to ensure that revenue deposits and bill payments are up-to-date, and all payments are accurately posted, reconciled, and deposited.
• Join Catholic Standard and El Pregonero editors in planning monthly editions and special issues.
• Coordinate and plan special events such as El Pregonero Job Fairs, Catholic Standard subscription drives and annual audits.
• Represent Carroll Media at networking events and conferences.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
• Practicing Catholic who supports Catholic teachings and the mission of Carroll Media
• Possess strong interpersonal, analytic, and strategic thinking skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field, master's degree preferred.
• Skill in managing budgets and leading workers to achieve goals and adapt to new challenges.
• Seven years' experience in business management, advertising, and media
• Knowledge of media marketplace with ability to adapt and take fresh approach to current trends and best practices, especially regarding digital advertising.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Excel, and basic accounting.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
