The Youth Minister serves as an essential part of the Pastorate staff to help young people (primarily grades 6-12) to know and share the Mission and Vision of the Pastorate. In spiritual and practical ways, especially through evangelization and education, the Youth Minister forms young disciples helping them to build and to deepen their relationship with Christ and to share more fully in the life of Church, especially Her service to the poor, the marginalized and the outsider.
The Youth Minister is tasked with planning and implementing activities to enable young people of the Pastorate to develop a deep relationship with God, to recognize their gifts and talents, to share the Good News with others, and to integrate faith into the rest of their lives. The youth Minister is also tasked with integrating young people into the whole life of the Pastorate. To do this, the Youth Minister
- Establishes and continually ensures formation of adult and adolescent leaders and collaborates with them to ensure the ongoing vitality of youth ministry;
- actively interacts with the parents of young people as partners in their faith formation;
- In collaboration with the Director of Christian Formation, plans and implements all classes, liturgies, and activities related the Sacrament of Confirmation, including pilgrimages, retreats, Holy Hours, and Masses to prepare young people to understand and willingly receive;
- In collaboration with the Director of Christian Formation, works also with Young Adults (18-25) to help in forming them as disciples;
- Collaborates with other area Youth and Young Adult Ministers and Archdiocesan staff on planning and implementing activities.
- In collaboration with the Pastor, the Leadership Team, the Director of Christian Formation, ensures the integration of faith formation efforts with other Pastorate activities to enhance the ability of the Pastorate to accomplish the mission.
Qualifications:
- Must be a confirmed and practicing Catholic able to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the Church and the communal life of the Pastorate
- Must have a passion for the Catholic faith, and the ability to accompany people of all ages and their families in developing and maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Must be available to work a non-traditional, flexible schedule
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree in the areas of theology, religious studies, pastoral ministry, or a related field.
- Preferred experienced in motivating and encouraging young people to learn, to volunteer, and to accompany others.
- Proficiency in Social Media, Microsoft Office, Google Suite applications as well as virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom).
