Position Summary
The mission of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the archdiocese is seeking a Development Coordinator.
The Development Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with the Directors and Officers of the team in managing a diverse and complex set of administrative and targeting development outreach program execution including assisting with direct mail solicitations, gift processing, donor research, donor record management, and donor relations. The Development Coordinator will also serve as a mentor for other development associates within the department. The ability to multi-task, focus on detail and professionally communicate with various internal and external constituents is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist the Director of Stewardship with coordinating parish-based programs such as Take the Next Step and helping parishes apply the principles of Stewardship: A Disciple's Response (Time, Talent, and Treasure) to their annual engagement with parishioners.
• Assist the Director of Stewardship and other development team members in developing, conducting, and reporting on progress on outreach programs, including The Parish Support Initiative, Back to School, #iGiveCatholic on #GivingTuesday, 40for40 for Lent Campus Ministry initiative, Youth Mass of Thanksgiving and Celebration, and Youth Spring Hope in support of:
• The Retired Priests Collection
• Secretariat for Ministerial Leadership
• Secretariat for Pastoral Ministry and Social Concerns
• Secretariat for Communications and Outreach
• Secretariat for Catholic Schools
• Affiliated Catholic Organizations
• Assist the Director of Stewardship in managing archdiocesan-wide donor stewardship programs, including the Advent Prayer Companion, Messages of Gratitude from His Eminence, Lenten Prayer Companion, and four annual Masses of Thanksgiving.
• Assist the Director of the Annual Appeal and Annual Appeal Officer in coordinating and managing the day-to-day tasks of gift and pledge processing, as requested.
• Assist the Annual Appeal Officer in maintaining quality control of charitable gift processing, including the following duties:
o Preparing and/or reviewing check and cash deposits;
o Recording pledges to the archdiocesan donor database and online platforms;
o Verifying gift and pledge entries;
o Verifying chargebacks and adjustments;
o Maintaining accurate donor records including all donor demographic information, donor name changes, and parish affiliation.
o Collaborating with archdiocesan vendor partners to provide customer service; and
o Answering donor questions/concerns concerning their accounts and serving as the first line of escalations.
• Assist in the planning and execution of signature donor recognition and cultivation events.
• Serve as a mentor to the development associates within the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business administration, finance, or related field.
• A minimum of one year of active development work in a nonprofit setting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook), and working knowledge of development-specific donor database systems management.
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Exceptional written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Ability to manage highly confidential information.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
