We are looking for a Controller who will be responsible for accounting, financial management, budgeting, reporting, and supervising the external audit process in our efforts to support Bethlehem University in the Holy Land. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Regularly reviews bank account and investment reports and posts transactions to the general ledger.
2. Prepares general ledger account reconciliations and monthly reconciliations for bank and investment accounts. Maintains a worksheet of investment account activity needed for year-end close.
3. After month-end close, prepares budget versus actual report for distribution to Executive Director and Finance Committee along with general ledger detail report.
4. Consolidates office budget worksheet into preliminary annual budget for review and approval and adjusts the annual budget when needed if circumstances change.
5. Answers questions regarding charges to office budget and make corrections to operating expense account, gift account, and annual fund as needed.
6. Prepares financial reports presented at Finance Committee meetings.
7. Prepares annual financial reports needed for annual audit and serves as liaison with external auditors and the Audit Committee during the preliminary and year-end field work in the office.
8. Interacts with T Rowe Price representative and incorporates investment data into reports.
9. Reviews internal controls for areas of improvement and, more generally, supports the work of Bethlehem University Foundation by proactively suggesting new policies and procedures that allow better managing of assets and improved fiscal accountability.
10. Calculates Return on Investment from various fundraising initiatives, analyzes trends, and engages in options planning for limited resources.
Skills and Knowledge:
-Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple demands and/or projects simultaneously.
-Able to apply sound judgment, maintain the confidentiality of proprietary data, and conduct oneself with integrity and focus.
-Ability to work in person in the Washington, DC metro area.
Qualifications:
-CPA Certification preferred
-Competence in QuickBooks
-At least 1 year of accounting experience preferred
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Hourly at around $50 per hour
