Part-Time Resource Teacher

Purpose:

The Resource Teacher, under the general supervision of the Headmaster, helps students needing additional assistance to develop skills and behaviors necessary to reach their fullest potential; develops, implements, and coordinates plans for students with learning differences; works with students, particularly in the areas of math and reading, to improve specific skills; tutors students at various grade levels in various subjects; and works families and teachers implement strategies to assist students in need of additional supports.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in determining program needs and procedures.
• Coordinate and monitor programming for students with learning differences.
• Provide leadership in the selection and implementation of evidence based curriculum and instructional methods for students with learning differences.
• Provide information, resources, and technical assistance to support students, teachers, and families.
• Develop individualized plans, in collaboration with teachers and families, for students as needed.
• Provide teachers with support and strategies to use in the classroom to meet the needs of students with learning differences.
• Assist students individually or in small groups, particularly in the areas of reading and math, to provide tutoring, improve specific skills, and reinforce classroom instruction.
• Research and share different strategies that would benefit students and their needs.
• Give students tools to be more independent in the classroom.
• Help provide families with behavior and/or academic resources for use outside of school.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested including attending professional development and meetings.

Qualifications:

• Passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church and the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
• Bachelor’s Degree in special education is preferred but candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Ability to use discretion, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively communicate, both in verbal and written form, with students, staff, parents, and community members.
