JOB TITLE: Director of Operations
REPORTS TO: Pastor
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
HOURS: 40 PER WEEK
The Director of Operations is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Parish and its missions; general administration of all Parish business; development of Parish and School management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization's strategic goals; advising and making recommendations to the Parish Council and/or School Board with respect to such activities. Emphasis on the Financial and Human Resources aspects of the position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy, Vision and Leadership
Serve as the management liaison to the Financial Council, Pastoral Council, Lourdes Catholic School Board, Foundation Board, and assigned committees.
Manages, reviews and evaluates all aspects of accounting and finance functions for the church and school.
Directly oversees accounts payable and payroll functions
Provide oversight for all Human Resource functions.
Contribute to the development of strategic goals and objectives, as well as the overall management of the organization.
Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Pastor informed of all critical issues.
Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking, property and system operations.
Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the operations teams.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality and excellence.
Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and recommend salary adjustments.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
In collaboration with the appropriate staff, plan, coordinate and execute the annual budgets for the Parish.
Ensure that committees are adhering to the strategic planning as it pertains to financial and operational goals, delivering status reports to the appropriate councils, boards and committees.
Provide oversight in identification and assessment of risk management of Church and School, and provide sufficient solutions.
Provide analytical support to all internal management teams.
Provide direct oversight and perform evaluations of Parish Business Office Staff, Maintenance Staff, Custodial Staff, and all shared support staff.
Practicing Roman Catholic.
Business and/or Accounting degree.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior management role with in-house financial management experience, human resources, gained in a growth organization.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Experience in the use of business technology, computers and accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing required.
Strong human resource experience including mentoring, staff development with a diverse team of experience levels.
Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented.
Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance, administration, and operational initiatives.
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Our Lady of Lourdes parishioners, Finance Council, Parish Council, Staff and any of its missions.
Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
