Coordinator of Catechism and Discipleship

The Coordinator of Catechism and Discipleship will assist the pastor in providing administration, communication, hospitality, and leadership in specific areas of the parish to nurture parish life through catechizing and forming discipleship in the parish.

~ CATECHISM: KINDERGARTEN through GRADE 12 ~
* Plans and Coordinates registration
* Orders all books and materials
* Catechists
a. Ongoing recruitment
b. Provides formation and training
c. Monitors SafeParish Child Protection Certification
* Curriculum
a. Reviews Lesson Plans for adherence to Archdiocesan Curriculum Guidelines
b. Assures that all textbooks and materials being used are on the USCCB's Conformity list or approved by the Pastor
c. Assures the readiness of facilities and materials needed for the session

~ SACRAMENT PREPARATION ~
FIRST RECONCILIATION AND EUCHARIST
* Responsible for sacramental catechesis for all parishioners
* Responsible for all parent sacramental catechesis in the parish
* Schedule photographer for class picture
* Plans Liturgy/Sacrament in conjunction with Worship Coordinator and Catechists
BAPTISM
* Oversee volunteer Catechist
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN
* Hold separate sessions or in-home preparation for those youth beyond typical sacramental preparation years.
* Responsible for the acquisition and verification of all baptismal records
* Enters First Eucharist and Confirmation information into parish record
* Notifies the place of baptism of the sacraments received to those not baptized at St. Mary of the Knobs
CONFIRMATION
* Work with Youth Minister
YOUNG ADULTS
* Create opportunities for young adults in the age range of 25 to 35 to learn, connect, and discover their faith
FAITH FORMATION COMMISSION
* The Administrator of the Faith Formation Commission
* Prepare yearly budget and submit to Parish Finance Commission
* Monitor budget throughout the year
* Submit Check Request/Income Designationation forms to pay all Faith Formation invoices and deposit all fees collected
NACYM & ARCHDIOCESE/OFFICE OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OBLIGATIONS
* Compile and submit a yearly Faith Formation Report containing enrollment and the number of volunteers in the program
* Attend Business Meetings
* Monitor all SafeParish procedures
* Administer yearly religious assessment, ACRE, to select grades and submit to the Archdiocese unless otherwise indicated by the Pastor
* Publicize and notify youth of yearly retreats
NOTIFICATION, PUBLICITY, and MARKETING
* Keep updated information on the website
* Update Flocknote as appropriate
* Inform the parish regularly through bulletin announcements

~ QUALITIFICATION ~
* Practicing Roman Catholic with a commitment to his/her own
faith life
* Well-developed knowledge of Scripture, the Catechism, Church documents
* Familiar with Church history, the stories of the saints and martyrs, and Mariology
* Experienced in teaching the faith to adults, youth, and children
* Able to communicate with age groups from varying cultural and social backgrounds
* Skilled organizer and overseer of catechetical programs that incorporate volunteer contributions
* Sensitive to controversial issues and able to respond according to Church teaching
* Familiar with the uses of media and technology for effective program implementation

~ EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND ~
* A Bachelor's Degree and prefer experience in a Catholic Church environment
~ MINIMUM REQUIREMENT ~
* Archdiocesan certification through the Advanced Catechetical Ministries
* Program (ACM) or Master Catechist Program
* A university certificate program in catechetical leadership
* Two to three years of recent catechetical experience

~ ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE ~
* Executive responsibility as an employee or volunteer
* Experience in working with adult volunteers
