Title: Victim Assistance Coordinator Agency: Office of Child and Youth Protection Reports To: Director of Child and Youth Protection Position: Part-time, Unbenefited
JOB SUMMARY This is a part-time hourly position. This person is the liaison between the Diocese of Joliet and victims of sexual abuse by clerics or employees of the Diocese. This person assists in coordinating service to promote healing for the victims. This position is responsible for responding to calls on the Victim Assistance Helpline.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Responds to Victim Assistance phone calls within 24 hours. • Assist with diocesan efforts to reach out to victims/survivors and their families and to demonstrate sincere commitment to their spiritual and emotional well-being. • Coordinates mental health and spiritual assistance/referral. • Follows up with client and service provider. • Communicates with victims and prepares a written intake report for the Director and Bishop. • Maintains records regarding all calls and contacts with client and service providers. • Reviews all abuse allegations with the Director of Child and Youth Protection. • Reports all abuse allegations to DCFS and other civil authorities as required by law. • Maintains referral list for mental health and spiritual support and other services as needed. • Attends the Annual National Safe Environment and Victim Assistance Coordinator Conference. • Comply with the USCCB Dallas Charter (and its updates) for the Protection of Children and Young People. • Comply with the Diocesan policies for the handling of individuals presenting claims of sexual abuse. • Must support the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of the Roman Catholic Church and the Diocese of Joliet. • Handle other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, social work or similar field. Master's degree preferred. • Must be a practicing Catholic. • Possess state license or certificate related to educational degree. • Have 5 years post degree experience. • Have experience with victims of sexual abuse, preferred.
SALARY RANGE This is an hourly paid position. Salary range is $35.00 - $50.00 per hour, based on years of experience and education.

WORKING CONDITIONS This is a Part-time, hourly, non-exempt position with no benefits. Hours vary, averaging 3-5 hours per week. Requires flexibility of schedule, evening and weekend work as needed.
