WORK SCHEDULE Full-time, exempt, benefited; Blanchette Catholic Center office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
JOB SUMMARY
Oversees the parish, school, cemetery, and other diocesan related audits which includes providing financial and operational resources/advice for the parishes. Responsible for the collection and analysis of parish financial reports and budgets. Serves as diocesan liaison to parishes and pastors for accounting, data analysis and administration concerns.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and monitor the parish audit process.
• Review audit reports with parish consultants and CFO, then issue cover letters highlighting main concerns to pastors and finance chairs. Determine the level of response for audit problems.
• Monitor and review parishes' annual financial reports and budgets. Follow up with parishes on pertinent issues and problems with those reports.
• Review parishes' annual assessment calculations and billings.
• Review and monitor parish financial operations.
• Manage parish consultants' schedules and parish requests for accounting services by providing diocesan
resources for support.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee and plan for ongoing support and training for third party services to the parishes provided by Paylocity for payroll processing and ParishSOFT for accounting software.
• Monitor and update diocesan financial policies and regulations.
• Attend parish finance council meetings to train and advise council members.
• Schedule and coordinate business manager meetings (twice a year) to include all administrative areas and concerns.
• Provide training and material for annual new pastor and new priest meetings & workshops.
• Liaison for pastors and parishes seeking a new business manager or other parish personnel. Including the interviewing and training of the employee.
• Work with Vicar for clergy on financial and parish issues.
• Travel may be required throughout the seven (7) counties of the Diocese of Joliet that may entail morning or evening meetings.
• Flexibility of schedule and reliable transportation is required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• BS/BA in Accounting with 5 years of audit experience with a medium-sized firm is required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with others.
• Must have strong written and oral skills.
• Must have the ability to supervise others.
• Knowledge of church and/or school operations a plus.
• Must have skills in Microsoft office, specifically Excel and Word.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full time benefited exempt position. Hours of operation are Monday -Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Travel may be required throughout the seven (7) counties of the Diocese of Joliet that may entail morning and/or evening meetings. Flexibility of schedule is required.
