The Head of Business Operations will play a strategic leadership role in advancing the school's mission and ensuring that the school's business operations run efficiently and effectively. The Head of Business Operations will work closely with our Board of Directors (specifically, Chairman) and Head of School Operations, as well as our Advancement Staff, Bursar/HR, Marketing, Athletic Director and Admissions & Educational Services Manager. They will serve as an ex-officio member of the Board.
Roles of the Head of Business Operations:
The Head of Business Operations is an administrator and partner to the board and school leadership team on business and administrative matters affecting the school.
Responsibilities:
Finance (Accounting & Endowment)
*Directs and advises on all accounting activities
*Develops strategies for the growth of financials and building an endowment and utilization in accordance with the school's financial needs and strategic plan
*Collaborated with the Board of Directors preparing monthly operating statements, overseeing financial investments, and establishing annual budget goals
School Facilities and Physical Resources
*Ensures school grounds, facilities, and property are properly maintained in accordance with the philosophy of space
*Responsible for upholding the rules of the current building lease
*Identifies areas of opportunity for continuous improvement; leads initiatives for efficiency improvements
Human Resources
*Oversees Human Resources management and serves as the custodian of personnel records, confidentiality is required
*Manages employee retirement plan, including vendor relationships / ensures compliance and fiduciary oversight as appropriate
*Review and revises employee handbook in cooperation with the Board of Directors
Advancement & Fundraising | Admissions & Enrollment | Marketing
*Works with Advancement team on yearly fundraising goals
*Works with Educational services team on admissions & enrollment
*Works with Marketing team on communicating the mission of the school
Requirements:
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
5+ years of experience in a CFO, Controller, Director of Finance or Operations or Business Manager role
Strong background in finance, budgeting, managing people
Experience with nonprofits or schools is highly desirable
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (especially Outlook, Excel, and Word).
Proficiency in or ability to learn other software such as SmartSheet, TuioPay, TADS, Rediker, Xero, WayWeDo (SOP software), and other platforms.
This position requires strong organizational, time management, and communications (verbal and written) skills.
Ability to simultaneously manage a wide variety of issues, situations, and people.
Ability to be autonomous, self-motivated and driven, as well as creating a team atmosphere.
An open and collaborative management style.
A positive, humble, and collegial temperament.
