Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family, a joyfully Catholic, classical high school, seeks an experienced, energetic and results-oriented Mission Advancement Director to implement and lead all aspects of a comprehensive fundraising program that will need to raise funds in support of our mission and for school operations.
The Director of Mission Advancement (which includes fundraising, constituent relations/engagement, and communications) is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to advance the school's mission. This self-starter will lead all fundraising efforts, cultivating and stewarding relationships with various constituents, and providing consistent communications throughout the year to our stakeholders.
This highly visible position will oversee a team that includes a Mission Engagement Specialist and a Database Manager. The ideal candidate will be strong collaborator and must effectively leverage the time, talent, and treasure of the Board of Directors, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and other friends of the institution to achieve advancement goals. The Mission Advancement Director reports to the Head of Business Operations and serves as an important representative with parents, alumni, donors, and the greater community.
Looking ahead, the priorities, opportunities, and challenges for the Director of Mission Advancement Include:
-Fully support the mission of Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family
-Oversee the school's annual Fleur-de-Lis gala and effectively use volunteers from our various constituencies to help achieve its funding and community-building goals.
-Develop, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors through personal visits, calls, emails, cards, and letters.
-Works closely with the Head of Business Operations, Head of School Operations and Student Life to include students and families in the gala and especially the raffle and ad solicitation.
-Manage major gift prospect research.
-Develop/implement strategies to secure new donors and increase giving from current donors.
-Educate parent base on the actual costs of a Chesterton education and encourage philanthropic support beyond annual tuition payments
-Maintain records of contacts with donors and volunteers in a timely manner.
-Engage the Board of Directors and Head of Business Operations as appropriate to assist in helping to cultivate donors and achieve annual fundraising goals.
-Increase participation in the Holy Family Society (recurring donors) by 20% or more annually.
-Create a $1,000 and above giving society to help bolster support for the school and identify potential major gift donors.
-Build a culture of philanthropy throughout the Chesterton Academy community.
-Attend key school events and other events, as deemed necessary by the Head of Business Operations.
Qualifications:
-A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
-Minimum of three to five years of professional fundraising experience, nonprofit experience a plus
-Bachelor's degree or higher
-Experience using fundraising software and other software Microsoft Office
-Outstanding computer and technical skills; excellent written and oral communication skills
-Strong organizational and project management skills are imperative, with ability to work under pressure
-Ability to work diligently and on your own and lead others as the mission advancement team grows
