ABOUT CATHOLIC PSYCHOTHERAPY ASSOCIATION
The Catholic Psychotherapy Association (CPA) is a non-profit 501(c)3 membership and education-focused organization founded in 2002. The Mission of the CPA is to support mental health practitioners by promoting the development of psychological theory and mental health practice, which encompasses a full understanding of the human person, family, and society in fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
~500 members - clinical, academic, clergy, religious, and student members in the USA and 9 additional countries
Board of Directors = 12 members + Chaplain
CPA is seeking a highly motivated, talented leader to serve as the organization’s Executive Director (ED). The ED will:
Be principally responsible for the organizational and financial administration of the CPA;
Oversee the execution of the organization’s strategic objectives; and
Build and develop relationships with identified stakeholders, including external organizations, entities, and persons, according to the mission, vision, strategic goals, and initiatives approved by the CPA Board of Directors.
Reporting to the Chair/President of the Board of Directors (BoD), the Executive Director (ED) is a highly-skilled professional who represents CPA to the public, leads organizational development and strategic planning, optimizes financial performance, oversees program delivery of committees and regional networks, builds donor/sponsor relationships, and oversees personnel which includes a Project Manager, a Finance Assistant, and an Administrative Assistant. Experience with and understanding of the nonprofit world is necessary. The ED also develops organizational strategy, sound practices, and supportive relationships, both internally and externally, resulting in diverse, cooperative, and effective collaborations that further the mission of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association. The ED must possess a passion for and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and sound implementation of psychological theory and mental health practice.
This position works independently and requires the ability to travel. The ED must maintain permanent residency and ability to work in the United States of America.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ED is responsible for developing and implementing strategic mission directives developed in collaboration with the CPA BoD. Specific areas include but are not limited to:
Assist in establishing an annual budget in cooperation with the Board of Directors and Treasurer.
COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH
Serve as the CPA’s ambassador in coordination with the Board President, Board of Directors and Chaplain;
Focus on increasing visibility, credibility, and CPA membership;
Network with funding sources within corporate, Church, professional, organizational, and educational communities.
Focus on strategic goals and initiatives identified by the Board of Directors;
Be responsive to the Board of Directors and CPA membership needs in a timely fashion.
Participate in select meetings;
Coordinate execution of the CPA’s annual and biannual organizational calendar;
Participate in the annual conference;
Attend yearly conference in April.
Promote upcoming webinars;
Support the CPA’s Ethics Code;
Participate in other activities as determined by the Board of Directors.
No less than one monthly staff meeting with the Operations Manager and Administrative Assistant

Seek individual and corporate sponsorship opportunities with the goal of raising 100K a year.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED
Progressive administrative or executive-level leadership experience in the service industry, ministry, mental health, or a related field.
BA/BS/BBA (required) or MA/MS/MBA (preferred).
