    Description

St. Pius X Catholic High School opened in 1958 as the first high school in the then newly established Diocese of Atlanta. Today, the school has nearly 1,100 young men and women, more than 130 faculty members - 80 percent of whom have advanced degrees, and nearly 14,000 alumni and benefactors.

The school offers a comprehensive college-preparatory program with 27 Advanced Placement courses. It has dramatically expanded its computer education programs and increased its campus ministry, counseling, and health services. Students come to St. Pius X from every public school district in the Atlanta region, and many students enroll from other areas of metropolitan Atlanta and its environs.

The school's mission is to provide a college preparatory education for the formation of the mind, body, and spirit of each student in accordance with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. From its rich traditions, outstanding academics, award-winning fine arts, and nationally recognized athletics program, you will find a school dedicated to young people and creating a firm foundation for their futures. The school is accredited by Cognia through an archdiocesan-wide process.

St. Pius X is and always has been a faith community. It is special because of the spiritual presence that animates the life of the school: Its roots and its identity are captured in the motto: Domini Sumus, "We are the Lord's!" From the moment a student steps onto campus, they are surrounded by a family of peers, educators, spiritual mentors, and coaches ready to walk alongside them during this formative life chapter and beyond.

St. Pius X boasts a slate of first-class fine arts courses taught by experienced instructors who are well-connected to area professionals in the fields of band, chorus, dance, drama, guitar, music, theater technology, and visual arts. The instructors invite and host many of these artists as well as accompany classes on field trips in and out-of-state to universities, concert halls where students can both witness and perform in an array of venues.

The athletics program has grown to include 25 varsity sports, with the addition of flag football for the 2022-2023 school year. The school also fields numerous junior varsity teams and operates a middle school program.

Nearly two-thirds of St. Pius X students participate in a sport or fine arts where they find a place of camaraderie and where they can excel outside the classroom. Both the athletics and fine arts departments have earned numerous championships and awards of excellence.

The St. Pius X community is grounded in the goals and aspirations of those who have gone before. The visions, achievements, and successes of predecessors inspire the present community to work for excellence in all they do, whether these activities are in academics, service, the arts, or athletics. Blessed by these predecessors and other stakeholders, the school community is in the closing stages of its $14.8M+ Ring the Bells Capital Campaign. The President serves as the chief executive officer of the school and is responsible for the operational vitality for the school, including advancement, enrollment, marketing, finances, and capital projects. The President leads and articulates the school's mission and vision, creates and implements strategic plans, and builds and nurtures constituent and stakeholder relationships on and off campus. The President also bears ultimate responsibility for the school's Catholic identity and is supported by a robust senior leadership team in carrying out these responsibilities.

Additionally, the President works with an Advisory Council who are designated by the President and approved by the Archbishop. The council is made up of no more than 12 individuals and includes alumni, current parents, and parents of alumni. Each member of the advisory council serves a three-year term. The President reports to and is evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools and Office of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

The President of St. Pius X is a model of what the school strives to form in its graduates: a person of deep faith, integrity, re sponsibility, compassion, and intelligence who inspires com mitment to the school's mission among all stakeholders for the vital task of educating young people now and in the future.
