Note: This is a work from home position. Employee can work from anywhere in the United States.
The publicist/outreach associate will promote faith-based movies, TV shows, books and nonprofits by garnering positive publicity across major media outlets (Catholic, general Christian and secular); secure interviews with authors, producers and spokespersons for projects; and pitch content marketing opportunities that will increase sales and awareness of various projects in the Catholic space.
The publicist reports directly to the Managing Director and the Associate Media Relations Director.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Write and distribute press materials, including press kits, press releases, fact sheets, media tip sheets, bios, etc.;
Arrange for coverage of various projects across major media outlets, including websites, social media, podcasts, blogs, newspapers, radio and TV
Identify and create story angles, pitch them to various media outlets and generate publicity results
Secure interview opportunities for authors, producers and spokespersons for projects
Monitor media coverage for each client
Update reports for clients, with a focus on earned media coverage
Influencer Outreach and Organizational Outreach
Coordinate coverage of projects with influencers and reviewers
Execute outreach to organizations and influencers based on project and as directed by the managing director.
Maintain team outreach databases for organization and influence outreach as directed by the managing director
Help set up unique media and influencer reviewer lists for each client as directed by the associate media relations director.
Contact influencers and secure interview and promotional opportunities
Track all influencer coverage and outreach progress in a software database
Collect and report on key social media outreach
Build a group of key influencers and develop strong relationships with them through regular communication
Maintain and coordinate eblasts for clients and company projects
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or other relevant areas
Working knowledge of the Catholic Church, its hierarchy and structure
Experience in public relations, communications or media relations, working with and pitching reporters, securing story placement, managing and reporting follow-up and coordinating events
Results-oriented and experienced in media pitching across spectrum of media (TV, print, online, radio, podcasts)
Proven experience working with various forms of traditional media - TV, print, digital, radio, podcasts and blogs - and social media - Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram
Maintain press lists and create results reports related to specific projects
Exceptional computer skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and Mailchimp.
