SUMMARY:
The MA/RN provides support and care to the patients and maintains professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the general supervision of the Clinics Manager, the MA/RN works in conjunction with the Medial Director to provide CPCI patients with the best possible medical, nursing and psychosocial care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Full agreement with CPCI governing documents and policies, particularly as to CPCI's philosophy and principles expressed therein.
2. Dependable, stable and capable of following through on commitments.
3. Sincere desire to reach out to abortion-vulnerable women and abortion-minded women.
4. Maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy and would never refer or advise a woman to have an abortion.
5. Continually holds a current nursing license in good standing under Florida law.
6. Current BLS card.
7. Must pass competencies in clinical areas through demonstration of skills by preceptor and competency quizzes.
8. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mission
1. Works effectively with Clinics Manager, other staff and volunteers to implement and communicate CPCI's mission, philosophy and principles as set forth in its governing documents.
2. Cooperates with Clinics Manager to keep herself current in legislative, regulatory, social and community developments relevant to CPCI's purposes.
3. Assures that her personal activities are consistent with CPCI's philosophy and principles set forth in its governing documents.
4. Periodically, willing to rotate onto our Mobile Unit which serves the local community in Sarasota/Bradenton.
Patient/Client Care
1. Provides care, including without limitations, assessing patient needs and making judgements that reflect safe medical practices.
a. Obtains patient medical/psychosocial history to include specific patient concerns/needs that may make carry a baby to term difficult as well as evaluation of patient support system or lack of.
b. Able to identify patients who may need emergency or immediate care based on nursing assessment/intake form.
c. Able to identify abortion-minded and highly abortion-vulnerable patients.
d. Performs/interprets urine pregnancy tests according to the policy and procedure in the manufacturer's guidelines. Documents in CLIA log.
e. Counsels and assists patient in developing a plan of care in order to bring baby to term based on assessment (physical, emotional and spiritual needs).
f. Collects urine samples for STI testing and reports results to patient, doctor and Department of Health per the CPCI protocol.
2. Maintains accurate records, care-plans and follow-though on physician's orders.
3. Assures accurate implementation of physician's orders and advises physicians of patient's progress and changes in condition.
4. Assists ultrasound technologist with exams.
5. Provides education for patient and family to develop an understanding of their health condition: fetal development, pregnancy education, adoption education, abstinence, STD education, abortion risks/procedure education.
6. Oversees patient follow-up per patient care-plan and standardize procedures.
a. Provides ongoing emotional/practical support as needed to high-risk patients.
Personal Development
1. Continually pursues additional knowledge of current medical and psychological information appropriate to her duties and responsibilities hereunder.
2. Attends medial conferences/in-service training that offer professional train and information pertinent to the Medial Clinic's services, as recommended by the Clinics Manager.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs all other appropriate duties requested from time to time by the Clinics Manager.
LOCATION:
The MA/RN will be based out of our clinic in Sarasota.
