The Archdiocese of Miami Pastoral Center, located just blocks from Biscayne Bay and serving the parishes, schools, entities and ministries of the Catholic Church in three counties, seeks a qualified HR professional with a heart for the Catholic Church's mission, to serve as Assistant Director of Human Resources. Primary responsibilities include management of several key areas of Human Resources for the Pastoral Center, including the recruitment and selection of mission-oriented Church personnel, onboarding new hires into the mission of the Church as well as orienting them to policies, procedures and their compensation and benefits; processing payroll on the bi-weekly schedule, employee relations and coordination of benefits for the lay employees of the Pastoral Center. The Assistant Director also provides HR consultation and support and training to the parishes, schools and other entities of the Archdiocese under the direction of the Senior Director of Human Resources, particularly in but not limited to the areas of talent acquisition, the HRIS/Payroll software, and paid-time-off issues. The Assistant Director will assist the Senior Director on archdiocesan-wide human resources programs and initiatives and will supervise an assistant and a part-time receptionist.
This position is an on-site position, in alignment with a core value of the organization: Ministry of presence, as well as Catholic Social Teaching principles. The Assistant Director will perform all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: 40 hours per week; M-F 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. May require an occasional weekend day for job fairs or other event
Qualifications:
• College degree (Master degree preferred) in Human Resources or related field; four years' exempt-level HR experience and HR certification by SHRM or HRCI (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP; PHR, SPHR, etc.) Member of SHRM and/or other HR organizations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of human resources policies and programs; PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
• Must be supportive of the mission, vision, and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; Experience in a Roman Catholic environment a plus.
• Experience processing payroll utilizing the payroll and time-and-attendance modules of an HRIS.
• Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards.
• Some supervisory experience required.
• Experience with non-profits preferred, schools a plus.
• Excellent detail-orientation and accuracy required: Must be able to resolve payroll issues for processing within a bi-weekly deadline.
• Excellent verbal skills in English; good Spanish- or Haitian Creole language a plus.
• Positive, can-do attitude; must be a team player and customer focused.
• Knowledge of organizational structures, positions, and elements of jobs.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with skill in MS Office and HR Information Systems.
• Must be a self-starter, well-organized and able to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
