Headmaster

The headmaster must be a practicing Catholic with at least five years of experience in education and demonstrate a commitment to classical Catholic secondary education. The ideal candidate will possess the minimum of a Master's degree in education administration or related field. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Headmaster will be expected to teach 2-3 classes during the first school year, with teaching responsibilities thereafter depending on enrollment.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

-Report to the Board of Directors, which is responsible for marketing, fundraising, and enrollment at the school

-Foster a joyful, faith-filled academic environment

-Provide a safe learning environment in accord with state requirements

-Implement and communicate the school's academic vision and mission, including adherence to the Chesterton Schools Network (CSN) curriculum

-Participate in Chesterton Schools Network curriculum training and headmaster training calls

-Oversee school accreditation process and renewal per CSN guidelines

-Coordinate the hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluation of teachers

-Communicate and enforce the school's discipline policies

-Oversee school House program and parent-led sports and co-curriculars

-Communicate regularly with parents via weekly Headmaster Missive or school newsletter and ensure that faculty members communicate regularly with parents regarding students' academic progress

-Meet with parents regarding student discipline and academic issues

-Admit new students upon review of placement test, transcripts, and family interview; oversee transfer student process

-Coordinate and review testing (CLT, PSAT, ACT, SAT); coordinate college applications and transcript preparation; communicate with colleges, universities, and other post-high school programs

-Present to prospective parents and students and to donors at selected school events.

About Chesterton Academy of The Florida Martyrs

Founded as a result of a grassroots movement of parents, Chesterton Academy of The Florida Martyrs is a new classical high school in the Catholic tradition opening in Pensacola, Florida. It is the only classical high school in the Catholic tradition in the Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese and surrounding area.

Our curriculum combines a broad liberal arts education with a strong emphasis on the development of Christian virtue and an appreciation of beauty. Each school day begins with daily Mass and all faculty, staff, and Board members take an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

We will open in August of 2023 with our first freshman class or a combined ninth and tenth grade class. Our school will operate on the property of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
