    Description

    The Office of Development for the Archdiocese of Miami, located at the Pastoral Center in Miami Shores, Florida, seeks to hire a Director of Development Communications. This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation and coordination of an Archdiocesan-wide comprehensive communications strategy and process to promote cultivation and engagement; stewardship and information-sharing. The communications strategy will be carried out with consistency in branding and methodology across varied modalities and platforms to help the office reach its strategic fundraising goals and objectives. The scope of work includes donor relations, stewardship, and related communications.

    The Director of Development Communications is also responsible for the overall branding and image of the Development Corporation through its communication mediums, prospecting leads for new donors; cultivating positive and mutually rewarding relations between the Archdiocese of Miami and its donors as well as the parishes and programs; creating research profiles and briefings; and identifying and managing prospective donors. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

    Responsibilities and Tasks:
    Develop, implement, and lead a successful and integrated donor relations program that strategically targets all levels of giving as defined by the President of the Development Corporation. Ensures donors are acknowledged and recognized to strengthen their financial support for the Archdiocese.
    Responsible for the branding and image of the Development Corporation via communication mediums, including website, donor correspondence, ABCD materials, video production, and more.
    Develop the annual communications (i.e. ABCD) plan that enhances the outreach efforts of the department; including web-based communications, direct mail, event marketing and constituent outreach.
    Oversee and direct the development and implementation of strategic communications in multiple mediums, including but not be limited to, social media sites, Annual Report to Donors, e-blasts, year-end-reminders, electronic newsletters, gift acknowledgements, web pages, invitations, fundraising materials, and tax receipts.
    Develop tasteful, carefully crafted donor correspondence for all workflow events, such as expiration notices, rejection of donor credit cards, tax receipt cover letters, holiday mailings, ABCD quarterly mass mailings, and more.
    Tracks donor relations and communications in Raiser's Edge, the Development database, to enhance relationships and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
    Review and control all gift acknowledgments, including receipts, thank-you letters, pledge statements and endowment reports, while tracking and reporting on turnaround time.
    Work closely with Development staff to conceptualize, design, create and implement e-mail marketing campaigns, including matching gift, planned giving, annual appeal and parish offertory opportunities and events.
    Develop and disseminate communication through social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and more.
    Design, direct and coordinate the holiday mailings at Christmas and Easter, as well as Thanksgiving robocalls.
    Develop content for and produce monthly donor newsletter as well as parish bulletin inserts.
    Design and implement donor surveys for the purpose of refining and improving reports and other donor communications.
    Assist the President in the operations of the Development Corporation.
    Provide exemplary customer service to all internal and external constituents who contact the Development Corporation by phone, email, fax or in person and all attendees at events.
    Resolve conflicts and problems directed to the office from the entities, escalating to President when necessary.
    Collaborate with other offices, programs and parishes within the Archdiocese as assigned on projects.
    Regularly evaluate initiatives and results, both in the formative stages and post-cycle, report results to President.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree required in Communications, Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, or related discipline and three (3) years' experience in development/non-profit communications.
    Master preferred with four (4) years' experience in development/non-profit environment.
    Knowledge of fundamentals of project management required.
    Good time management skills including ability to manage several projects at the same time with accuracy is required.
    Excellent customer service skills required.
    Knowledge of visual communication methods and materials, including video projection.
    Knowledge of social media applications and platforms; mobile services experience preferred.
    Basic HTML, Photoshop, and other Web production skills a plus.
    Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
    Type at least 60 wpm with 90 percent accuracy.
    Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
    Proficiency with Raiser's Edge is strongly preferred.
    Excellent oral and written English communication skills are a must, including a clear speaking voice.
    Good Spanish spoken and written communication skills strongly preferred.
    Good Haitian Creole spoken, and written communication skills is a plus.
    Good spelling and grammar required.
    Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality regarding donor information.
    Demonstrate punctuality, dependability, and reliability.
    Supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; Advanced knowledge of the tenets of Catholic Church and parish structures.
    Must have professional demeanor with a disposition of service to others.
