-Be a practicing Catholic and fully adhere to and model the Church's teachings in faith and morals.
-Active participation in parish life.
-Appropriate mental and physical health to accomplish the tasks
-Catechetical and/or administrative experience as a catechist or teacher
-Ideally the Candidate would possess or be in the process of obtaining one or more of the following:
> Certificate of Studies in Catechetical Ministry and Leadership
Formation from an accredited Catholic institution and/or
> Certificate in Youth Ministry (see Franciscan University)
> BA with major in Religious Education, Theology, Pastoral Studies with experience in Religious Ed from an accredited Catholic institution, or a BA in Education plus additional catechetical courses as needed
-Full time to include presence during the Sunday morning Mass and program, and the Sunday evening middle school and high school programs.
-Continue to recruit and train catechists for
Children's Liturgy of the Word.
Middle School Youth Ministry
Including Summer Camp
High School Youth Ministry
Including Summer Steubenville Conference
-Registration and record keeping of program participants.
-Ordering supplies, including:
Teacher and student texts
Religious audio and visual material as needed to support the
-Sacramental preparation for:
First Holy Communion
High School Confirmation.
-Selection of the annual Summer Vacation Bible School Program.
-Select coordinators and assistant coordinators and train in
recruitment, registration, and implementation of annual Vacation
Bible School Program.
-Communicate with parents regarding program and sacramental
-Oversees the parish nursery.
-Parish Liaison with Diocesan Department of Christian Formation.
-Maintain a parent/volunteer list to assist the program when needs
-Maintain the Diocesan Catechist Certification Program.
-Maintain records for the Diocesan Fingerprinting and Sexual Abuse
Workshop for all catechists.
