    Location: Catholic Pastoral Center (Colorado Springs, CO)

    Date Open: OPEN NOW

    Date Closed: Open Until Filled (Start as Soon as Practical)

    Pay Range: $145,000 - $160,000 per year

    Benefits: Full Time employees eligible for health, vision and dental coverage; receive holiday pay and earn discretionary time off; may participate in employee pension plan.

    Position Summary:

    To further the spiritual and religious mission of the diocese by managing all financial, capital equipment, contracted benefits, and pension functions that support the Diocese. The Finance Officer is a canonical appointment (Canon 494 3).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Oversee the fiscal operation of the diocese
    Oversee and present to the Finance Council an annual budget in consultation with the Bishop's senior staff, the College of Consultors and other appropriate consultant bodies, for approval by the Bishop.
    Oversee and present diocesan financial reports for appropriate disclosure and provide for an annual audit
    Oversee the preparation of the consolidated parishes' financial report
    Manage diocesan investments within guidelines established regarding cash flow, asset allocation, and Catholic socially responsible investment policies
    Create and maintain banking relationships to provide for the security of deposits and the facility for borrowing to meet diocesan requirements
    Oversee compilation of fiscal policies, norms, and standards for the diocese and its entities, with appropriate consultation
    Provide for the purchase and sale of all diocesan real property, including the parishes and all related entities
    Supervise the Controller, Director of Benefits and Pension Funds, and the Director of Property and Casualty Insurance
    Staff the functioning of the following diocesan consultative bodies:
    Diocesan Finance Council, Priests' Retirement Plan Committee, and Lay Employees' Pension Plan Committee
    Administer the Tax Deferred Annuity 403(b)7 Program for the diocese, including the parishes and related organizations
    Act as plan administrator and trustee for the Priest Retirement Plan and the Lay Employees' Pension Plan
    Oversees Employee Benefits and Worker's Compensation Programs
    Administer the diocesan employee and clergy benefits
    Represent the diocese with applicable brokers, vendors, Archdiocese of Denver and others as needed.
    Manage the group benefits program to ensure appropriate, accurate and effective benefits with vendors, through design, implementation, documents, communication, distribution and eligibility
    Provide resources for benefits system, maintain working relationship with outside support and diocesan IT
    Serve on committee for Archdiocese of Denver Welfare Benefits Trust, and Workers Compensation
    Ensure appropriate accounting guidelines and internal control structures are in place
    Perform other duties as assigned
    Minimum Requirements:

    Education or Formal Training/Experience:

    M.B.A. in finance, accounting, organization and management or a C.P.A. with Chief of Operations experience
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Five years of senior administrative leadership in a non-profit organization, preferably the Catholic Church, to include working with consultative bodies, supervision, accounting, investing, financing, and business law.
    Demonstrated administrative and supervisory skills and ability to work in a senior management position
    Excellent interpersonal, human relations, public speaking and communication skills
    Knowledge of the diocese as a civil, canonical, pastoral, and hierarchical entity
    Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing
    Knowledge of the organizational structure of the Catholic Church and Bishop's management philosophy
    Learn and work within the parameters of this culture and Bishop's style
    Advanced knowledge of budgeting principles and practices, accounting principles, investment, and financial reporting methodologies
    Knowledge of real estate, property management, employee benefits, insurance, and law
    Demonstrated abilities in the areas of strategic planning, conflict resolution, and public relations.
    Ability to synthesize data and develop strategies in a wide variety of areas
    Ability to work within established parameters to develop long-term creative business systems
    Ability to tactfully call a ministerial-based organization to a sense of business discipline
    Ability to work with, and hold senior management accountable

    Work Environment

    Most of the assigned duties are performed in an office environment.
