Summary Job Description: Must maintain an understanding and appreciation of the philosophy and Mission Statement of the Franciscan Retreat Center (FRC) at all times. Incumbent is a working supervisor of 1-2 part-time staff, cleaning and overseeing the cleaning of common areas, guest lodging rooms, conference rooms, and offices of the FRC building.
ESSENTUAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Common Areas
Daily
Vacuum carpets in lobbies, lounges and corridors
Mop/sweep restrooms, stairways, and outdoor areas
Clean and restock all public restrooms in both buildings
Touch up restrooms throughout the day when guests are here
Clean door windows in both buildings
Dust furniture, light fixtures, wall hangings, banisters, railings and ledges
Empty trashcans and take trash to the dumpsters/recycling
Check and report to the Director any repairs/replacements needed
Ensure lights off, windows closed/locked, and doors locked
Clean patios at both buildings
Empty outdoor trash
Bi-annual
High dust, hallway baseboard, banisters, deep clean lodging rooms
Clean light fixtures
Clean ceiling fans and small table fans
Clean blinds
Dust and wash between windows/screens
Rooms
After Check-out
Remove sheets/towels and take to appropriate areas for pick up or laundry
Remove trash
Remake beds and restock towels/soaps
Clean bathrooms/drains, restock consumable supplies
Vacuum bedrooms/hallways
Dust furniture, windowsills, light fixtures, wall hangings
Turn in any found articles to front desk/director with room # attached
Check and report any repairs needed to Director - room # and problem
Quarterly
Scrub wastebaskets
Clean blinds
Bi-annually
Dust and wash between windows/screens
Clean all light fixtures
Move furniture to clean baseboards
Launder spreads, blankets, mattress pads, etc.
Meeting Rooms
Clean and reset all meeting rooms as needed for group arrivals
Food/Beverage Service
Setup and take down coffee service for morning and afternoon coffee service
Clean coffee service areas and restock supplies
Setup for box/deli lunches in meeting rooms and clean up
Make sure drinks are in the fridge for beverage service or food service
Trash out meeting rooms regularly morning, lunch time
Office Areas
Trash out as needed daily, vacuum front desk area
Weekly dust gift shop shelves
Monthly dust desks, computers, light fixtures
Clean between windows/screens when needed
Other Responsibilities
Restock linen cabinets and housekeeping closets in both buildings
Restock carts with supplies for cleaning rooms after each change over
Check weekly for laundry service (Alsco) whether need to stop service/how long
Check housekeeping supplies and submit order to Director
Clean coffee pots as needed
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBLITIES:
This position supervises at least one part-time housekeeper to share duties
This position interacts with guests as needed
This position must have a working knowledge of the Center's activities, locations, meal times, etc.
Customer service is a must with all groups/guests - must have ability to respond to guest/ group needs as requested.
This position has authority in making housekeeping decisions with the Director
Must have a cordial and pleasant attitude

Must be dependable, flexible, and self-motivated

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED; one year of experience as housekeeping supervisor or 3 years of experience as housekeeper and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees of FRC
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract 2-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Possess a knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and learn additional programs necessary to do this position
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out details of written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of the tasks/duties that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
