THE POSITION: The Early Childhood Director (ECE) supports the parish and school's mission by implementing a developmentally appropriate educational program for young children ages 3 and 4 year olds. The ECE Director assures proper care and supervision of children in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth. The ECE Director maintains an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children. The Director will lead a team of teachers in the day-to-day operations of the ECE and exhibit competence in the supervision of ECE staff and financial administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Ability to demonstrate and teach Christ-based behaviors
• An active Christian, Catholic preferred, in good standing with the church
• Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of Denver
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
• Assures compliance with State Licensing Child Care regulations including completing appropriate paperwork and staying updated on regulations
• Assure compliance with applicable state and county codes and regulations
• Maintains the program's Colorado Shines quality level of 4 diamonds
• Oversees all management of the ECE program
• Supervises and directs activities of ECE staff to ensure conformity with governmental law as required by Colorado child care licensed programs
• Plan and implement a safety program for the ECE, keep informed of the ECE's legal responsibilities and liabilities
• Work with the principal, assistant principal, and business manager on an annual budget and perform within the budget
• Purchase equipment and supplies and arrange for repairs and maintenance as needed
• Manage and stock supplies as needed
• Replace equipment as needed
• Recruit applicants to fill staff vacancies and select staff members
• Arrange for substitute help as needed and fill in classroom when necessary to assure ratio compliance
• Design preschool program and schedule to maximize enrollment
• Meet with parents of prospective students as requested
• Facilitate frequent communication with parents
• Plan for parent orientation
• Ensure a loving and safe learning environment for the children
• Develop age appropriate creative curriculum
• Facilitate classroom management
• Directs and guides ECE staff
• Coordinates volunteer staff as needed
• Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings
• Will supervise/mange the Extended Care Program as needed
• Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Must be a licensed ECE Director as stipulated by the State of Colorado OR Colorado Early Childhood Level 3 Credential
• Minimum of two years' experience as an early childhood program director, assistant director, or other administrative position is preferred
• Have current certificates for, or will complete, all CDEC Child Care Licensing training preservice and orientation requirements

• Have a positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, her teachings and her work; refrain from public promotion or approval of any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic Doctrine or morals
• Capable of receiving and following instructions
• A self-starter, capable of independent work
• Ability to pass Criminal Record Background Clearance with no exemptions
• Must complete all classes/seminars as directed by Good Shepherd Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Denver
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Required to lift or carry supplies, books, furniture, and equipment up to 30 pounds
• Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger
• Required to climb stairs sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
• Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
• Required to monitor students in a variety of locations with noise, activity, and inclement weather
• Must be able to be physically active for the number of hours prescribed by the employment contract
