The substitute teacher is responsible for delivering lesson plans and instruction in the absence of the classroom teacher, while maintaining a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment for all students. We have a welcoming community with supportive faculty and staff and wonderful students and families.
Certification and Qualifications
• Proper licensure from the Colorado Department of Education is preferred. Acceptable licenses are three-year substitute authorization, Initial or Professional Teaching License or a Five-Year Substitute Authorization.
• Pass a Background Check
• Complete Safe Environment Training through the Archdiocese of Denver
Competencies and Expectations
• Effective supervisory skills;
• Works with all staff members, faculty and administration in a cooperative and supportive manner
• Preferred: be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 20412043);
• Background and training in education methods, subject areas and developmental planes of development specific to age group of class
• Appropriate control and discipline techniques to successfully manage a classroom;
• Sound judgment and decision making skills;
• Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures;
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
