Position Overview & Responsibilities:
As a Funeral Director, your role is to provide compassionate and professional customer service throughout all aspects of funeral arrangements, cremations, ceremonies, and interments. By guiding families through the challenging process of losing a loved one, you help them find solace. Your duties involve arranging and conducting funeral and memorial ceremonies while adhering to company policies. You'll negotiate and manage funeral contracts, ensuring legal compliance. Moreover, you'll be responsible for the interment or cremation of human remains, and you'll actively engage with communities, religious groups, and other organizations to uphold the heritage and expand market presence. You'll handle on-call responsibilities, manage service arrangements, oversee the preparation of deceased individuals, supervise funeral services, and ensure adherence to regulations.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies with professionalism and care, aligned with company guidelines.
• Negotiate and execute funeral contracts, handling legal documents and payment collection.
• Inform client families about available veteran recognition/services.
• Coordinate interment or cremation of human remains.
• Adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
• Cultivate community involvement for market growth and heritage preservation.
• Fulfill on-call responsibilities, including initial communication, transfers, and service arrangement details.
• Obtain authorization for service arrangements.
• Supervise respectful preparation and presentation of deceased individuals, including embalming, restoration, dressing, and more.
• Manage funeral services, from parking to ushering, driving vehicles, assisting at services, and setting up items.
• Ensure compliance with professional and regulatory licensing regulations.
• Provide aftercare services in the absence of Family Service Counselor, including documentation and information delivery.
• Share potential pre-need referrals with Family Service Counselors.
• Accurately complete documents and reports related to services, data entry, and maintenance.
• Assist with office duties and facility upkeep.
• Receive, inventory, and manage funeral supplies.
• Prepare and provide refreshments as allowed by law.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a dual degree training program in funeral and mortuary science from an accredited mortuary college or technical school.
Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Embalmer, Apprentice, or Funeral Director Apprentice in a funeral firm or embalming facility.
Certification/Licenses:
• Must meet state/province funeral licensing requirements as stipulated by each state board.
• Valid Driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Familiarity with the customs of religious and fraternal organizations.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Demonstrated compassion, integrity, and effective communication.
• Strong multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
Salary:
Base plus commission between $45-60K per year plus 100% paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
