Responsibilities
Work with the chaplain to serve college students, form them according to the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church and invite them to build a Catholic community through leading, organizing and supporting various activities: Bible studies, discussion groups, prayer groups, social events, retreats, trips, special events and other.
Consult with the Chaplain on a regular basis, provide thorough and complete briefings, project plans, status reports and reports for functions and duties assigned. Respond in a thorough and professional manner to special project requests and other assignments as necessary.
Ensure student organization status compliance with campus administration.
Identify and support the spiritual, ministerial, formational, and educational needs of students and the campus community. Identify resource needs and make recommendations for successful ministry.
Work with student leaders to develop goals for Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Ministry on campus.
Maintain visibility on campus and be present at appropriate events.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with appropriate Diocesan, local, regional, and national offices related to campus ministry.
Maintain database of students, parents, and others supportive of campus ministry.
Develop and recommend communications, recruitment, and social media strategies.
Coordinate different areas of ministry between student leadership teams and the chaplain.
Qualifications
A practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church who can articulate Catholic Church teaching regarding catechesis and young adult formation.
Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of Sacred Scripture, Catholic doctrine, and the development of the spiritual life.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Ability and willingness to meet the demands of college campus life and student availability. Must have an enthusiasm for campus life and students' schedules. Participation in and oversight of evening, weekend, and weekday events is required.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills to effectively manage various duties and responsibilities.
A master's degree is preferred, with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in theology, religious or pastoral studies, religious education, or other discipline required.
One year of volunteer or professional experience in young adult/campus ministry is preferred.
Basic computer skills are required.
