Development Associate - Full Time
FSLA Status: Non-exempt
The Archdiocese of Mobile is seeking an energetic self-starter for the Development Associate position. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who desires a long and successful career in development and fundraising in the nonprofit sector. This position requires a person with excellent computer skills who pays great attention to detail, enjoys working with a team and understands the importance of confidentiality. This individual will report to the Director of Development and Stewardship, and will work with the development team, volunteers, donors, clergy, parish, school and ministry staff throughout the Archdiocese of Mobile. The Catholic Charities Appeal, campaign administration, The Catholic Foundation, planned giving and parish stewardship are some of the pogroms administered by the development team.
The development associate will be responsible for many tasks, including:
• Processing donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
• Providing excellent customer service
• Maintaining the database and accurate data entry
• Running queries and preparing monthly reports
• Assisting with writing newsletters and annual reports
• Assisting with fund-raising events and mailings
• Creating and uploading marketing materials for print and electronic distribution
• Coordinate volunteers
• Promoting the Annual Catholic Charities Appeal by speaking at parishes
Applicants must be a Catholic in good standing with the church. A bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Previous experience (approx. 2 years) in the fundraising or nonprofit sector is preferred. This individual must have excellent proven writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills, and must be interested in a career in development.
Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge fundraising software is a plus, but not mandatory (will teach). Ability to work in a team setting and willingness to work a flexible schedule with minimum supervision is also required. Occasional participation in evening and weekend fundraising events would also be expected.
The necessary skill set for the development associate includes:
• Organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Accuracy and attention to detail in data entry
• Ability to function either independently or as an active team member
• Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
• Proficient in Microsoft suite, mail merge and database management - RE NXT preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Previous administrative assistant or customer service experience
• Manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and confidentiality
